Title: 1926 - The George Junior Republic, a community for at risk youth, is shown. It was founded by William Reuben George, and claimed to be a junior republic within the Republic of the United States whose economic, civic, and social conditions, reproduced those of the USA.(This organization still exists and is now known as the The William George Agency for Children’s Services). January 10, 1926, Freeville, NY, young people outside in the cold. Youngsters vote and put ballots in a box. People walk to a house, its cold and snow. The person who's elected takes the oath of office. Two boys start fighting outside in the cold. The fight is broken up by a guy. Youngsters play judge and jury. One of the fighters is taken to jail. People work at a bakery. Every citizen has a job. Youths work on a farm. A cow wanders. A girl milks the cow. Citizens get paid. American Flag flies (:07-2:24). Title: 1930 - Long and Short of it. Republic is fully prepared to handle all lawbreakers but there's trial by judge and jury and witnesses to evil deeds are heard answering questions of youthful lawyer by a duly chosen panel every man is innocent till proven guilty and from looks of things here comes up unhappy verdict yes there's a new inmate in the gorge Junior Republic jail one more constructive side it's every youthful citizen for good of all as government law demands that everyone have a job this bakery is owned and operated by citizens Republic who do everything from knead dough to baking bread and delivering the finished product learning trade for later life youths work on small Republic's dairy farm this youth takes bull by the horns and this bossy looks as if she's enjoying a lot of great a contentment and so his girl top day and George jr. Republic is payday as citizens learn lessons in finance in 1926 these young girls and boys have found fun in freedom by 1936 they were wise citizens of the United States freest most wonderful land on earth yes 1930 and here in Berkeley California is mr.
