He then does a version of his lightning-sketch vaudeville act. In a series of fictionalized scenes, barrels of ink and reams of paper are brought into McCay's office where the cartoonist prepares his sketches: his efforts are disrupted by the mischievous presence of the office boy. His efforts are then shown to John Bunny and others. The resulting cartoon features the characters from his immensely popular comic strip, Little Nemo in Slumberland, including not only Little Nemo but Flip and Impie (who squash and stretch magically at one point in the cartoon sequence). As Moving picture world reported, 'here Little Nemo and his friends are made to do amusing and surprising stunts.
