This documentary traces the development of the United Nations from its charter in 1945 through construction of its New York headquarters to current activities. It includes a tour of the organization's facilities and a visit to the International Court of Justice, the Hague. The United Nations is presently concerned with human rights violations, the effects of overpopulation, the cost of energy, an erratic world economy, and natural disasters. The danger posed by the arms race is a continuing threat to world peace and the goals of the U.N.
