Description: Points out that the half-million Indians who are leaving reservations seeking a better life in the city are finding the white man's urban world alien and unfriendly. Traces the life of Gloria Curtis, a Chippewa who died of hepatitis at the age of 27, through several crises including unemployment, welfare, inadequate housing and poor medical care, in white-controlled Minneapolis, Minnesota. Features Don and Lucille Goodwin, also members of Minneapolis' Indian ghetto, who discuss how they were able to weather the painful period of adjustment from reservation to urban life.
