Where Is Jim Crow - A Conversation With Lena Horne

Lena Horne discusses herself as a symbol of the Negro pin-up, the representative Negro woman, or 'THIS YEAR'S NEGRO,' and tells how she had to conquer this image for her own sake and that of other negro women. She says that since the days of slavery, women have been forced into a stringently-defined role which must be altered by both men and women if a healthy negro society is to be achieved.
