Description: Explores the life of Ted Cly, a typical Navajo father living on a reservation in Utah. Discusses the matriarchal Navajo society in which women have all property rights and the Navajo warrior is an anachronism. Points out that Ted Cly and his brothers, having been stripped of the role of the warrior and its inherent power and respect, are men living in a society that no longer has a place for them.
