Description: Peter, a young boy, observes the various trees of the neighborhood throughout the year. He discovers that a tree is many things: a garden in the spring; a giant parasol in the summer; burning leaves in the autumn; and a bare thing in the winter, "dressed with Jack Frost's jewels." Peter also learns that there are many kinds of trees, and that they are an endless source of products useful to man. "What Is A Tree?" is a visual and verbal poem that stimulates observation and exploration in the child.
