Weaving

Complete catalog record
Shows, without narration, the Pushtun people of Afghanistan demonstrating the process of weaving. They unravel balls of string across thick wooden sticks hammered to the ground. Women are shown doing most of the work, but a man is seen assisting them. A woman pats mud on the sides of the string and later they comb the strings using a metal tool. They create designs by weaving in different colored string patterns. When they cut off the ends of the strings, a rug is completed.
