Description: Shows the diversity of activities in the Watts branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, and demonstrates the dedication of its staff as the librarians tell of projects in which they are involved, and reveal their own feelings of commitment to their profession and to the community. Inside the library, books are shelved and checked out; discussion groups meet; children listen to a story or take part in craft programs. In the courtyard are special events: a show called "Watts Sights and Sounds, " which involves singers, bands and other entertainers; a karate demonstration; a tricycle race; exhibits of police and fire equipment. Beyond the library, staff members take books to the Health Center and workshops.
