Watsonville Cannery- mostly color

Duration: 12:00

Year Published: 1967

Complete Record: Footage by Coni Beeson silent The footage starts out in color. We watch as nurses walk towards us, entering a building. A sign proclaims “Cannery Workers Health Check-Up.” As part of this we see men filling out paperwork, nurses handling paperwork and samples. There are close shots of faces. People enter the checkup trailers and we see an extended wide shot of the trailers from the outside. Now inside the trailers, nurses take measurements for height, weight, eye pressure and vision. Interspersed with the checkup shots are shots of the conveyor belt with women sorting peaches, shots of cans and machinery. There are a few brief wide shots of the inside of the factory. The rest of the footage is in black and white. There are still images of portraits, then moving images of checkup exams, cans in the factory, turning mechanisms of the conveyor belt and more processions of cans.
