Description: A documentary study of workers displaced by automatic machinery in a typical American steel town in the 1920's and 1930's. Follows the development of the town and depicts the life of its people as being bound up in the fortunes of the mill. Points out that with the introduction of labor-saving devices the men were no longer needed in the mill, and shows how war made such a demand on manpower that there was a scarcity of men adequately trained for the jobs. Suggests the need for the constant training of adults.
