Complete Record: Two films, the first is about a “Western Vacation”. On the road to Yellowstone. Tourists flock with cameras around pools of bubbling mud and geysers. Bears block the roads to the park and attempt to crawl into parked cars. Cute voiceover about not feeding the bears. Tourists sit and take snapshots of Old Faithful. Second film is set in New York, the story of one company’s efforts to help rehabilitate tuberculosis, heart disease and former mental patients through the making of uniforms and various garments. Workers, young and old, male and female, black and white, manufacture garments from patterns, iron them and toss them into large laundry containers for mass distribution. Focus on unity and teamwork and the connection between industry and government. School for women and men to learn construction of automobile meters and dials. Sound bite about women taking less interest in things mechanical yet having more patience and paying more careful attention to detail. Mining company digs for ore with giant cranes and heavy duty industrial equipment. Voiceover about the American dream and religious, academic and economic freedom. In the midst of mining country two sculptresses create abstract art out stainless steel from sketches for schools and other architectural constructions.
