Description
Film includes various footage from Exercise Solid Shield '85, conducted mostly at Camp Lejeune. Military personnel and civilians gather on bleachers. Marines conduct an amphibious assault landing exercise at Onslow Beach. AAVs approach the beach and move ashore. LCU1653 and two LCM8s carrying tanks move across water. A TC4 Academe of VMAT(AW)-202 takes off at an airfield. A UH1 Huey hovers. Various planes fly and take off. A KC130J of VMGR-234 taxis on a runway as CH46 Sea Knights fly overhead and land. Flight operations possibly filmed at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, S.C. Footage of dock operations at Port of Morehead City, N.C. Marines move cargo with a forklift and lift a boat and other vehicles onto ships. Trucks move in a line on the dock. Troops board a ship with gear on their backs and salute Navy personnel. Unidentified ship 12 sits at the dock. USS Saginaw (LST-1188)'s ramp extends from its bow onto the dock while USS Fairfax County (LST-1193) sits alongside.
