Description
President Harry S. Truman visits San Diego on September 24, 1948. President Truman speaks from the platform of a caboose to a crowd of civilians and military personnel. Marines in San Diego in March and April 1950. Marines work to establish a beachhead. Marines set up a beach marker, set up communication equipment, and dig foxholes. LCVPs make their to the shore. LVTs maneuver on the beach. A DUKW sits on the beach. A Marine performs routine maintenance on a Jeep. Marines train with horses at the post stables. Footage of a sign for Marine Observation Squadron 6 (VMO-6). L-5s of VMO-6, a F6F of FASRON-7, and a F4U sit on the runway. R5Ds of VMR-152 land. Marines and sailors disembark the R5Ds.
