USMC 103841 Decade 1950 Date 1953-02-05 Description TRAEX III on Vieques in February, 1953. At Roosevelt Roads, Marines inspect a crashed plane. On Vieques, Marines fire 105 mm Howitzers. Marines on the "enemy" team construct beach defenses with barbed wire, logs, sand, mines, and Czech hedgehogs. A R4D lands on an airstrip. Brigadier General George F. Good Jr. greets Admiral Lynde D. McCormick and naval officers after they exit the R4D. McCormick and naval officers inspect Marines. F9Fs drop napalm. McCormick, naval admirals, and Good watch tanks shell a hillside. Marines lower the flag of a Brigadier General and raise the flag of a Lieutenant General. Lieutenant General Graves B. Erskine and Good arrive at an encampment. A sign reads, "Lt. Gen.
