Description
Footage of Havana. TRAEX II exercises on Vieques and Camp Lejeune on September 22 and October 6, 1952. Sailors and Marines aboard the USS Botetourt (APA-136) perform an abandon ship drill. At Camp Lejeune, Marines and M4A3 tanks advance on the across a field while HRS-1 helicopters of HMR-261 fly overhead. HRS-1s drop off Marines in an open field. Cameramen record the maneuvers. Marines detonate an explosive charge. Aerial footage of amphibious assault on Vieques, featuring LSTs, HRS-1s, LCVPs, ships, and smaller naval craft. Footage of the Marine encampment on Vieques. Marines known to be in the film: Menzies. Ships featured in the film: USS Raby (DEC/DE-698), USS Botetourt (APA-136), and a commercial vessel of the North Atlantic Gulf Steamship Company.
