Description
Civilians and Marines watch as Marines parade in front of the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia in 1955. The Marine Corps Band plays music on the parade ground while a boy wearing Marine Corps dress blues salutes. An unidentified Colonel, an unidentified Captain, and Lieutenant General William O. Brice talk. Brice talks to an unidentified retired Marine. Active duty and retired Marine officers (possibly including General Graves B. Erskine) greet one another. Brice talks to an Naval officers and Lieutenant General Randolph M. Pate. The Marine Corps Band and the Drum and Bugle Corps march on the parade field and play music. The color guard marches to front and center and presents colors. General Lemuel C. Shepherd Jr., Major General Merritt A. Edson (retired), and unidentified Marine officers walk to the review stand. Shepherd talks to General Holland Smith (retired). The Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps marches on the parade field and plays music. Edson, General Alexander Vandegrift, and a chaplain speak at the podium. The Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon drills on the parade field. The Drum and Bugle Corps marches on the parade field and plays music. The color guard marches to front and center and then returns to their position on the parade field.
