Description
The TTU (Troop Training Unit) was a special Naval unit mostly composed of Marines who fought in the Pacific in WWII. Marines of Underwater Demolition Team 2 (UDT-2) and Underwater Demolition Team 3 (UDT-3) conduct training exercises. LSTs, including the USS Burnett County (LST-512) and the USS Calaveras County (LST-516), and attack transports maneuver in the water and bombard the shoreline. LVTs. LVT(A)s, and small boats maneuver in the water and land Marines. Marines advance up the hillside, talk on handheld transceivers, lay wire, and set up mortars. General officers arrive at the beac. These include Lt. Gen. Keller E. Rockey, Admiral William H. P. Blandy, Major General Lemuel C. Sheperd. A LCVP with the hull number PA22015 pulls away from the shore in the background, indicating the presence of the USS Okanogan (APA-220). Shepherd talks to an unidentified Marine Lieutenant Colonel who wears a TTU helmet. Marines walk up the hillside while M4 Sherman tanks maneuver in the background. Content related to USMC 103291.
