USMC 103320 Decade 1940 Description The TTU (Troop Training Unit) was a special Naval unit mostly composed of Marines who fought in the Pacific in WWII. The initial function of the TTU was to teach amphibious landing skills to all of the military services. After the entrance of Communist China into the Korean War in late 1950, the TTU took on the task of training troops for amphibious evacuation. TTU maneuvers at Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base.
