Description
The TTU (Troop Training Unit) was a special Naval unit mostly composed of Marines who fought in the Pacific in WWII. The initial function of the TTU was to teach amphibious landing skills to all of the military services. After the entrance of Communist China into the Korean War in late 1950, the TTU took on the task of training troops for amphibious evacuation. U.S. Navy personnel test smoke screen devices, and Marines test their casualty treatment skills. A Marine with a "TTU" helmet and armband goes through a checklist. Marines discuss plans at their camp while landing craft reach the shore. Marines test their casualty treatment skills. View of the Marine encampment. U.S. Navy personnel aboard attack transports and landing craft test a smoke screen device to conceal their ships.
