Description
Several staged sequences aboard the USS Vella Gulf (CVE-111) depicting life aboard ship on a "Saturday night." These include men showering; African-American Marines clearing up the chow line followed by other African-American Marines relaxing; a mix of Marines and sailors waiting in line for sodas at the 'Gedunk'; and Marine officers censoring mail. Persons known to be featured on film are Chaplain Lt. Foley eating ice cream, and Lts. Dunkan and Caiver censuring mail.
