Description
MajGen Keller E. Rockey (also present his aide, Cpt. Sydney Woodd-Cahusac) as well as other officers inspect various units of the Fifth Division at Camp Tarawa prior to embarking for the Iwo Jima campaign. Scenes aboard transport are then followed by Norm Hatch's footage of landing on Iwo Jima, H+4 hours. Amphibious landing craft (USS LSM-264, USS LSM-141, USS LSM-242, and USS LSM-47) are all shown as is unloading and setting up on the beach. Note: war dog shown with Marine on beach. Reel ends with unrelated footage of Randolph Scott on a USO tour to Bougainville in January 1944.
