Produced for the U.S. Navy by Pathe News, Inc. in 1945, this digest covers the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt's christening and the invasion of Okinawa. The first brief section shows Eleanor Roosevelt boarding the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt for its christening, followed by the carrier's sponsor Mrs. John H. Towers--wife of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet--as well as Admiral Ernest J. King and General George Marshall. The following segment covers the invasion of Okinawa by U.S. forces during World War II by air, sea, and land. This segment highlights the might of the U.S. Armed Forces' planes, ships, weapons, and soldiers, and pays special tribute to the combat medical teams and the crucial role they play in battle.
