Description
This film promotes the purchase of "Liberty Loan" bonds during World War I, and depicts a rally held to promote the fourth of these loans on "Navy Liberty Loan Day," October 16th, 1918 at the State Navy and War Building in Washington D. C. Lt. John Philip Sousa arrives in Washington with his Navy band, other officers and the drum major to play at the rally. Lt. Henry Reutendahl updates a painted billboard keeping score of bonds purchased, further "sinking" a painted U-Boat. Navy Secretary Josephus Daniels and Admiral Cowie speak to the large crowd. Treasury Secretary McAdoo receives a postcard. Shots of the Liberty Loan Mail Room and of postcards sent to and from soldiers and bond-purchasing civilians further promote the purchase of Liberty Loan bonds.
