Description
Marine Corps Commandant General Wallace M. Greene gives a report of his 1966 visit to South Vietnam, and of the progress and current state of the Vietnam War. Footage depicts aerial views from CH-46 helicopters, Marines' welcome by Vietnamese villages, Marines aiding and transporting refugees and the training of Marines and Combined Action Companies with South Vietnamese troops. The Marines are also seen trekking in jungle terrain, pinning medals, transporting blindfolded Viet Cong prisoners of war, flying jets and dropping bombs. General Greene's narration emphasizes aid to refugees, Marine values and beliefs, and their ability to win the war. Operations Hastings and Colorado are mentioned, and a jet from the VMFA-323 squadron and helicopters from the HMM-164 squadron are pictured.
