A sign designates the location, Mobuni Town on the southern tip of the island, as the site of the final organized stand by Japanese Lt. Gen. Ushijima against the American 7th Infantry Division the previous week. Footage from several angles also captures Marines stepping forward to be awarded and pinned with medals on June 30, 1945. Separate scene of colors performed on the island with Lt. Gen. Geiger.
