Chaplin's production notes and interivews with his players help to re-create his pioneering methods and creative process in making classic silent films. Episode 2: The Great Director (Unknown Chaplin 1918-1931) -- Uses recently-discovered footage and rare interviews with Chaplin's actors to shed light on The Kid, The Gold Rush and 2nd City Lights. Includes interviews with Lita Grey Chaplin, Jackie Coogan and Georgia Hale. Episode 3: Hidden Treasures (Unshown Chaplin) -- Includes Chaplin's How To Make Movies, a tour of the studio he built in 1917 as a new indpendent filmmaker and brief footage of films made in Chaplin's leisure. A discussion of the advent of sound and the making of City Lights is made featuring interviews with Robert Parrish and Virginia Cherrill. (Does not circulate)
