Dr Glenn T Seaborg, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, outlines briefly the types of experiments which were used in production of transuranium elements. He describes various sources employed in producing the new elements and discusses applications of the atom to other chemical problems and use of special techniques. Dr Seaborg stresses the need for scientists and the importance of good scientific training in schools.
