This short roll of silent film (circa 1940s) is from the estate of Lt. Col. John D. Craig, well known writer, TV host, Hollywood stunt man, pioneering deep sea diver, and adventurer. It apparently is an extract or "dailies" from one of his movie projects; Craig was a highly respected pioneer in the field of underwater photography. Here, Craig and/or members of his team are shown diving underwater in St. Thomas, using first generation SCUBA gear. John D. He worked in the commercial surface-supplied diving industry from the 1930s on, and filmed aerial combat over Europe during World War II.
