Description: This short silent film "U-Boat War in the Atlantic" shows German U-boats hunting for Allied shipping during WWII. The film starts with shots of a convoy at sea with lookouts searching the horizon for U-boats. At 2:07, a U-boat commander spots the convoy and radios headquarters to alert senior officers of the convoy's course and destination. At 2:30 this information is plotted on a map and then at 2:50 other U-boats are informed of the convoy's location. The wolfpack of U-boats converges on the convoy and torpedoes are loaded. At 3:30 all is calm in the convoy. Sonar detectors (3:41) reveal the presence of underwater craft. It's too late. At 4:00 multiple Allied ships are hit with torpedoes. Escort craft go on alert and attempt to intercept their underwater foes. At 4:55 another ship is hit by a torpedo. At 5:30 depth charges are unleashed by a destroyer, but other torpedoes are in the water. At 6:20 seamen fall into the water as their lifeboat hangs in the divots. At 6:24, anti-submarine warfare ships including destroyers and/or corvettes fire hedgehogs and depth charges into the Atlantic. At 8:20 the Germans attempt to dive deeper to avoid the depth bombs. At 9:43 the submarine is hit and begins taking on water.
