Description: Presents an excerpt from the film, Billy Budd, based on the work by Melville, reviewing the trial of Billy Budd. Explains that Billy, pressed into service aboard a man-of-war in the Royal Navy in 1787, becomes an object of hatred for the master-at-arms, John Claggert. Describes how when unjustly accused by Claggert of being part of a planned mutiny, Billy kills him. Shows the trial in which the members of the court believe that Billy is innocent, but under the Articles of War he must be found guilty and sentenced to death.
