Each segment employs surreal, mythic imagery drawn from Latin American Indian tradition. Poems included: An Aztec flower song, by Nezahualcoyotl, King of Texcoco; Horses of the conquerors, by Jose Santos Chocano; The Guardian angel, by Gabriela Mistral.
