[Applause] corner and now the left swing for the tricky Devil's elbow and so into the home straight all done in under 1 minute and at over 80 mph by the expert early doors and already there's a buzz crewman France Dukay pip Harris and Ray Campbell hold it they're off no one left behind and Charlie Freeman has his Norton in front but Gerard it's Shyer who weaved into the lead [Music] and he's still way out in front coming out of the [Music] essence at the end of the first lap he leads from Freeman Harris Wakefield and the German of Thea [Music] on lap two Shyer is still further ahead and by the halfway stage he has a 10-second [Music] lead meanwhile the crowd is watching a terrific scrap for second place between Freeman and Wakefield [Music] and with Pip Harris watching on lap seven wakefield's white BMW ages ahead he holds it past the pits round Gerards but next time round Freeman turns the tables [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] at The Hairpin the crowd gets ready to cheer shider finishing his last lap and he gets the checked flag followed by Freeman Wakefield chus and cola the next race is the final of the Thousand CC event and last minute preparations are [Music] underway Wheeling out their cont commercial ingenious Mini Engine three-wheeler are Owen Greenwood and Terry Fair [Music] brother Colin cely Chris Vincent with an extra Pusher for the back row mini got off to a good start and a Gerard Fred Wallace and his Triumph are out in front of Vincent with CER just behind [Music] and it's the same ORD they double The Hairpin at the end of the first [Music] [Music] lap into Gerard's again and Vincent and cely SW ah head of Wallace who begins to fall back and is Terry vinam and another Triumph who is now third [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] seven of the 10 laps gone and it's still Vincent and cely in the [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] lead Greenwood and his four-wheel three-wheeler is fighting to hold fifth place [Music] [Applause] [Music] and there go the leaders only a few y between [Music] them passing Brian Russ dislocated on the [Music] elbow and Chris Vincent gets the flag from starter Allen Disney Just 4 seconds up on Colin cely into the paddock for [Music] Refreshments a warming cuper and something to eat I've got eyes [Music] everywhere hats are being worn this season so hair with a on to the devil's elbow and it's now cely leading from shider with Vincent just ahead of Freeman and [Music] [Music] vidum on the second lap Shyer slips ahead of cely with Vincent just behind but the have been something's wrong Vincent has dropped back behind Freeman and vinum he missed a gear change and the others have swept by [Music] next time at the 's max do is harried by the mini and MC fman skids [Music] off shy Digger comes round to start lap four with a good lead over six whose engine is misfiring badly down at Gerard's Vincent now back in The Fray is R say cut down the BMW's tremendous lead the answer is obviously yes watch how the Gap gets narrow as they near the halfway stage [Music] [Music] and now the crowd is beginning to sense a British Victory fingers are crossed come on Chris at The Hairpin on lap n the BSA boys are breathing down the necks of the angler Swiss crew round the elbow side by side down the straet and the Gerard's the green outfits ahead the lap record is shattered a that's better number six conin C is hanging on to third place but his valve springs are collapsing and doble is just a [Music] Stern hello someone's in trouble sign not of spolding wish I could hear that conversation [Music] lap 12 and Dober is now ahead of cely then come vinan Greenwood Freeman and Wakefield or is it busy for Vincent and Shyer are now catching the tail [Music] Enders Vincent laps chus and new passenger at you Cay [Music] [Applause] the order is Vincent Shyer doil vinum cely Greenwood Wakefield and Freeman and the pace gets even hotter [Music] [Applause] [Music] all [Music] Chris has seen shider closing up again and gives the BSA full steam ahead well those rocker replacement stand the [Music] face fourth placement is now Wakefield who's really flying in front of Greenwood vinum Freeman and cely and Vincent close on their tail [Music] and as they come up to the Finishing Line cely makes a desperate two whe effort to avoid being lapped by Vincent but there's no doubt who is the victor of a grand hardfought hard driven [Applause] [Music] race and for Chris Vincent and passenger Terry Harrison it's Laurels and champagne a brilliant Victory by British Boys on a British bike they are undoubtedly the side car of the [Music] year and as 25,000 delighted Spectators make tracks for home leaving a peaceful malerie Park let's take a
