Description: The process of using nuclear power to generate electricity is shown as it is being carried out in Canadian plants. The Chalk River Laboratories on the Ottawa River built the first atomic reactor outside the United States, and began getting electric power from the atom by 1953. At Pickering, on Lake Ontario, are four reactors which generate as much power as Niagara Falls. Animated sequences demonstrates how the reactor works and how heat is produced by fissioning of uranium.
