Description: "Playwright William Wakefield, Jr., turns detective when his father is killed after nearly capturing James and Richard Krogan, who were in possession of four rubies belonging to the British Museum, that were later acquired by the Breen gang. An investigation suggests that "the Breen girl" is responsible for the elder Wakefield's death, and William pursues her across the ocean to the United States. The true identities of several characters, including the robbers and the girl, are constantly in question.
