Illustrates two interrelated ideas which are key concepts in the development and change of the current health care system--treatment of the family as well as comprehensive individual care. Shows an interdisciplinary health care team--an internist, a nurse practitioner, a social worker, and a pediatrician, supplemented by a clinical technician and an educational psychologist--working closely with the community and encouraging their participation and involvement in health issues in order to develop a network of self-help groups. Discusses the viability of this approach in terms of its value to the community with health consultants, community leaders, and patients.
