Description: This animated version of Mahy's droll picture book concerns an old peg-legged cat named Tom who dreams of travel. He belongs to fussy Mrs. Daisy Gimble who desires a sedate pet that eats frugally. When Daisy's brother Cyril, a rascally, roving swagman, wearing a revolting, moulting Russian hat comes to visit, an amusing turn of events occurs. Cyril mistakes Tom for his hat and puts the sleeping feline on his head. Tom is off to see the world and Mrs. Gimble, inheriting Cyril's head covering, has the placid companion she always wanted.
