Incorporates case studies, research in progress, and interviews in an examination of epilepsy, its symptoms, and possible causes. Discusses different types of epileptic seizures, problems in diagnosis and treatment, general misconceptions, and emotional trauma resulting from the disease. Uses diagrammatic animation to demonstrate the role of nerve cells in seizures, contrasting normal brain encephalograms with those of epileptics. Surveys research in several hospital assessment centers where patients can be continuously monitored.
