Description: Leonard Bernstein stresses that a great orchestra is one that can change from one composer's style to another's. Punctuating his discussion with selections from the works of 18th, 19th, and 20th century composers, he demonstrates how the orchestra's interpretation must express the characteristic musical textures and colors of different composers, national origins, and periods of music history.
