Describes many situations that hinder the learning of normal fluent speech, parent's use of baby talk, exessive demands on the child's speech development, a home lacking in love and understanding, poor speech standards in the home, indifference to the child's speech attempts, parental speech that is too often corrective or negative and too little contact between parent and child.
