Description: This film investigates the possibility that an ancient burial cloth housed in Italy's Turin Cathedral was the funerary shroud worn by Jesus Christ and bears his image. The shroud has generated controversy within the Church and the secular world. After its discovery in the empty tomb, the cloth disappeared for almost 400 years. Surviving earthquake, flood, fire and transport across the Mediterranean Sea and through western Europe, the shroud came to rest in Turin in 1578. This documentary records the studies conducted by theologians, art historians, medical examiners, Interpol chemists and NASA image technicians to trace the probable history of the cloth and reconstruct the events of Christ's passion.
