Reel 1: Segment 1 (sound): Man with mustache and slight Russian accent is holding up a Russian language newspaper. "This is the organ of the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union." He points to a list of people who have received military honors and says this can only mean one thing, that the Soviet Union is conducting military activity somewhere along one of its borders, and the most likely place is the border with China near Mongolia & Kazakhstan. Segment 2 (sound): Man in sports blazer with what looks like a German eagle emblem on the patch pocket speaking about a celebrity sports night in San Jose to benefit the Boy Scouts. Reel 2: Segment 1 (silent): Sign for the Wayside Chapel of St. Francis. Cut to interior where a police officer is looking at a tiny newborn baby wrapped in a blanket, lying on a ledge near the candles, below a crucifix. It is unclear whether the infant is still alive, but it appears to have been abandoned at the church. Segment 2 (silent): Men entering a courtroom, jury filing in. Sign for "Judge John T. Racanelli Presiding." This appears to be a murder trial, based on the attorney in the courtroom who was previously interviewed about seeking death penalty in the trial. Cut to jury leaving, men outside in hallway listening to a man, then milling around. Back inside the courtroom, two men are talking. Reel 3: Segment 1 (silent + sound): Silent footage inside a large room with a fireplace, where a large group of African men, and several African women, are sitting and standing, chatting and drinking out of plastic cups. A few local women are chatting with them. A reporter interviews one of the men about what he and his countrymen in African think of the U.S. involvement in Vietnam. The man answers that in Africa they don't think it's a good idea for the U.S. to be involved militarily, but the U.S. should act as an intermediary (his personal opinion). Segment 2 (sound): Man with glasses is commenting on the write-in votes in the recent primary election. He says that the number of write-in votes for candidates from the opposite party reflects the overall percentage of votes. The reporter asks him if this is typical, and he says that the percentages in this election were closer than they have been before. He says this might be related to cross-filing. Reel 4: Segment 1 (sound): O'Connor Hospital representative interviewed about nurses salary increase. He says that they still expect a hospital-wide salary increase in August. He's asked about his reaction to a recent comment from local nurse who said they had been refused a salary increase. The representative says that he's not aware of any nurses at O'Connor's being denied increases. Segment 2 (silent): Nurse by the bedside of an older man, showing him a large piece of paper. He is smiling and laughing. Segment 3 (silent): Two prisoners entering a courtroom. After sitting down, they shield their faces from the camera. Segment 4 (silent): Sign for the South San Jose Lions Eye-glasses drive being installed near the Trailorama Mobile Homes location. Segment 5 (sound): Footage of a fireworks stand, followed by a public service announcement from a member of the San Jose Fire Department, warning about fireworks accidentally causing fires and injury. Reel 5 (silent + sound): A group of young Japanese synchronized swimmers practicing in a pool. A Japanese man is interviewed about the swimmers. He's asked why he's brought his team from Osaka to the U.S. and he says it is to get acquainted with the high quality and standards of synchronized swimming in the United States. He says they will be here for about a month, visiting all areas of our great country. The girls are average age of 12 and have been practicing for three years. He has been coaching for 4-5 years. They will also be competing in the national championships in Rancho Cordova at the end of July. Reel 6 (silent + sound): A woman dressed in sleeveless shift dress with white gloves is standing in a law office library with two men, holding a piece of paper. She is interviewed and says that there is a vacuum in the County and a need for more vocational education in Santa Clara County.
