A human voice reads from Shakespeare's The Tempest. A doctor, a book lover, a musician and a harsh man have survived a holocaust and are living in a dugout built by soldiers. Dr. Jenkins has saved a few books, records and a portable phonograph. While he plays Debussy's Nocturne, each man reminisces about his life before the war.
