Description: This film from the Miss Wool Collection is the complete telecast of the Miss Wool of America Pageant of 1970, which crowned Gail “Gus” Heinzmann of Illinois. The Miss Wool of America Pageant took place annually from 1952-1972 in San Angelo, sponsored by the National Wool Growers Association, the American Sheep Producers Council, and the Wool Bureau, Inc. Miss Wool represented the wool industry nationally, touring the country in the latest woolen fashions. The 1970 pageant was hosted by pop singer Jack Jones and folk singer Nancy Ames. Judges included movie star Glenn Ford; Academy-Award winning costume designer, Travilla; and Rosemary McMurtry, Executive Editor of Seventeen magazine.
