The trials of going West are the subject of this early film by D. W. Griffith. A woman with her husband and child make the long journey westward with a wagon train. En route, they are attacked by Indians. Griffith utilized many camera postions in filming the action and used parallel cutting to intercut a cavalry skirmish with the Indians and the hero searching the battlefield for his wife and baby.
