Description: On August 10, 1980, Hurricane Allen, one of the most powerful storms in recorded history, made landfall on the Texas coast near Port Mansfield. This film, produced by the Division of Emergency Management of the Texas Department of Public Safety, documents the actions taken by federal, state, and local government agencies to minimize the damage caused by the storm. The film is compiled of news clips and footage from inside the disaster management center depicting the various individuals and agencies working to evacuate the threatened areas and assisting the citizenry in returning to their damaged properties.
