A facade of small town honesty and incorruptibility is stripped from Hadleburg when a stranger reveals the citizens to be not virtuous, but greedy and unscrupulous. Based on the short story by Mark Twain. Starring: Robert Preston, The town of Hadleyburg prides itself on its honesty and virtue. A stranger appears in town and concocts a scheme to reveal the true nature of the citizenry. He deposits a large sum of money in the local bank which can be claimed by the person who supposedly once gave him $20 and some good advice.
