The Little match girl

This live-action version of the Andersen story was originally shown at the Vieux Colombier where some of the film was shot. Using experimental film techniques, Renoir tells the tragic tale of the poor girl who sells matches on a wintry street, falls asleep in a makeshift shelter and dreams of happiness in a toyshop.
