The Legend of Bop City

Uses narration, interviews, and archival photographs to present the history of Jimbo's Bop City, a jazz club located in the Filmore District of San Francisco from 1950 to 1965. Describes the importance of the club in the history of jazz music, the cultural milieu of San Francisco, African-American cultural history, and black-white relations. Includes interviews with jazz historians and a variety of musicians and customers who frequented the club including Mary Stallings, Flip Nunez, Teddy Edwards, Clora Bryant, Dewey Redman, Merl Saunders, Earl Watkins, Roy Porter, Denise Perrier, Vince Wallace, and many others.
