Description: Released by producer Albert E. Seuss in 1932 as part of his "World Before Your Eyes" series, "The Land of the Vikings" profiles the nation of Norway. The silent film begins with images of a four stack ocean liner at sea on its way up the Sognefjord (1:33). At 2:42 the liner is shown again. At 3:50 a mountain village is shown. A national shrine, the statue of a legendary viking warrior Frithjof den Frokne at Vangsnes is shown at 4:18. Other scenes include a mountain road at 7:40, peasanta harvesting a field by hand at 7:50, rugged horses at 8:05, a glacier at 8:11, and glaciers of Jostedelsbrae at 8:40. The Sognefjord or Sognefjorden, nicknamed the King of the Fjords, is the largest and deepest fjord in Norway. Located in Sogn og Fjordane county in Western Norway, it stretches 205 kilometres inland from the ocean to the small village of Skjolden in the municipality of Luster.
